The trajectory of Takefusa Kubo's career has been a consistent topic of discussion almost every summer since his inaugural season with Real Sociedad. Once considered one of La Liga's breakout stars, the Japan international, similar to his team, faced a more challenging previous season, while the current campaign has been significantly impacted by injuries.

Interest from major clubs, notably Liverpool, was previously reported, though their pursuit appears to have cooled in tandem with Kubo's fluctuating form. The 24-year-old possesses a €60 million release clause within his contract, which extends until 2029. According to reports from Diario AS, Tottenham Hotspur recently emerged as the latest club to express interest in Kubo, although no formal offers have been tabled. Earlier in the season, Kubo was reportedly disillusioned with the team's direction, fueling speculation about a potential exit. However, the recent appointment and positive influence of coach Pellegrino Matarazzo seem to have shifted the club's fortunes and, potentially, Kubo's perspective.

In a recent interview with Onda Cero Gipuzkoa, Kubo stated that his immediate focus remained on the upcoming World Cup when questioned about his long-term future. Nevertheless, the revitalizing effect of Matarazzo's leadership and the genuine prospect of Real Sociedad securing a spot in European competition could significantly sway Kubo's decision to remain with the Txuri-Urdin.

Kubo Confident of Copa del Rey Final Return

During the same interview, as cited by NdG, Kubo also unequivocally confirmed his readiness to play in the Copa del Rey final on April 18th. The midfielder has been sidelined since mid-January, recovering from a muscle tear.

"For now, all I can say is that I'm going to make it," Kubo affirmed. "We're currently working diligently with the physios and medical staff on the recovery process, to ensure I can be in optimal shape. Hopefully, I can be one of those players who can step up and make a valuable contribution in the final."

This season, Kubo has made just 20 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists. He is now, however, reportedly in the final stages of his recovery, eager to return to action for a crucial period for the club.
