The French international's contract is also due to expire this summer, with no indications of an impending renewal. This situation could lead Liverpool to consider Schlotterbeck as a potential replacement for Konaté if the latter ultimately departs Anfield.

Conversely, should Real Madrid pursue Konaté, it could effectively end their interest in Schlotterbeck. Schlotterbeck's reported valuation previously hovered between €50-60 million, a fee that Real Madrid typically shies away from for players in their mid-twenties. Konaté, on the other hand, fits more squarely into their recent transfer philosophy, especially if he becomes available on a free transfer.
